Home Modifications

SBH Queensland Occupational Therapists can provide assessment for home modifications to help maximize your safety and your independence when accessing all areas of your home.  Home modifications are structural changes to your home to improve your health, safety, independence and to make life easier.  Home modifications may range from simple changes, such as the addition of a hand held shower hose and grab rail in the bathroom, through to full structural kitchen, or bathroom adaptations or ramped or lift access installations.  The Occupational Therapist will tailor the home modification recommendations to your specific circumstances, mobility and function.  They will also collaborate with a builder to ensure the recommendations meet all structural and building requirements.  The Occupational Therapist can complete documentation and reporting necessary for funding bodies, such as the NDIS, for home modifications.
