ADULTS AQUATIC THERAPY

Our adult’s aquatic therapy program is open to adults who are registered with our adult’s services – ASSIST. Sessions are run during the year in Brisbane. Adults in regional areas of Queensland are also invited to attend the programs held in Brisbane or are offered the program when SBH Queensland teams are on regional visits.

The groups are run by occupational therapists and physiotherapists. Friends, family and carers are also welcome. The program allows clients to engage with therapists and work towards their personal goals in an aquatic environment. The program focuses on the following:

  • Core strength and gross motor skills

  • Posture and balance

  • Muscle relaxation and reducing muscle spasm

  • Motor planning

  • Hand-eye coordination and depth perception

  • Physical fitness

  • Pre-swimming skills

  • Social interaction

  • Joint range of movement and flexibility

  • Pain management

We also offer one-one-one sessions if you are unable to make any of our block programs throughout the year.
